The Mac Agent installation changes the handling of Mac Computers in the Dashboard.
Before installing the Lights-Out Agent, a Mac is handled as a WHS device, but offers no additional functionality. Runtime monitoring is controlled by WHS and uses a very long timeout of 30 minutes.
After installation of the Lights-Out Agent, IP and MAC address are transmitted by the client (for waking your Mac via Wake-On-Lan). The agent also uses a much smaller timeout (6 minutes) and overrides the built-in WHS detection.
