|
Configures device properties for computers and IP based devices
Select a device in the computers list view and click on "View device properties".
Windows Home Server Computers |
Apple Mac Computer with Lights-Out Agent |
IP based clients with MAC-Address |
Manually added IP based clients without a MAC-Address |
(1) Hostname and IP-Address are fixed for Windows Home Server Computers. You can change the name for IP based devices
(2) If this device is a router, gateway or a WLAN repeater, please check this option. This is a new features of service pack 2.
(3) Monitor this device for activity keeps your server running as long as this device is active. When monitoring is selected, you can't disable the visualization in the uptime diagram (4).
(4) Otherwise you can select to display the runtime of this device in the diagram.
(5) You can wake-up your computer at the specified time using a timer or wake-on-lan. A timer is only used for Windows Home Server Computers. This allows a wake-up of notebooks in standby. Wake-On-Lan is used for all devices with a LAN connection (not WLAN!).
This option is not available for manually added Ip based clients because a MAC-Address is required..
(6) You can enable the client context menu to allow a standby of your server. You can enable this on a per computer basis and disable this option for example on the kids PC.
(7) You can enable automatic wake-up of the server when the client resumes or boots up. When you disable that function you can still wake-up the server using the client context menu.
(8) When you have wake-up enabled, you can run a backup 2 minutes later. When this option is enabled, Lights-Out runs a second backup if executed outside of your backup window. If executed inside of the backup window, Lights-Out suppresses an additional WHS backup.
This option is only available in the licensed edition. Please read Backup How-to for more details on client backup.
After backup
(9) You can specify a client action after backup to suspend, shutdown or reboot the computer. This action waits 3 minutes for user input.
(10) If this option is checked, the action is always executed, otherwise the action is only executed if the computer is idle. This is a new features of service pack 2. See here for more details on option (9) and (10).
Most options are not available in the community edition (marked with a turquoise background)
